Anil Pushpangadan, Gandhinagar: Two IGP Rank IPS (Indian Police Service) officers from Gujarat cadre have been promoted as Additional Directors in the center. Gujarat cadre’s 1988-batch IPS officers Atul Karwal and Pravin Sinha have been made ADGs of CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) and CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation), respectively.

Senior IPS officers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state cadre have been getting plum postings in the center since some time, with the recent one being the promotion of IPS Arun Kumar Sharma as Additional Director at the CBI headquarters in New Delhi. Pravin Sinha was transferred to the CBI as joint director and posted in Chennai three months ago. Now he will shift to the Delhi headquarters in his new post as ADG. They will have the company of another Gujarat cadre officer in special director at CBI, IPS Rakesh Asthana.

Atul Karwal, who is currently the joint director of CRPF at the Delhi headquarters, will now hold the post of Additional Director there. The post of Additional Director in CRPF has been lying vacant for some time, which will now be filled in by Karwal.
