Ahmedabad: Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya landed into an unsuspecting trouble when a special SC/ST court in Jodhpur directed the Jodhpur Police to file an FIR against the cricketer for an allegedly posting a derogatory statement against Dr BR Ambedkar on Twitter. But the tweet in question was posted on December 26, 2017 from an unverified account @sirhardik3777, while the officially verified Twitter account of Pandya is @hardikpandya7.
The petitioner DR Meghwal, who claims to be a member of the Rashtriya Bhim Sena filed a petition on Tuesday in a Jodhpur court demanding adequate and suitable punishment for Pandya's act. Meghwal told Times of India that he got to know about Pandya's tweet in January through social media and it appeared quite derogatory for a figure like Ambedkar and it was an attempt to spread hatred and create division in the society.
But he probably missed the fact that Hardik Pandya has a verified account on every major social media portal and this tweet that offended him was made from a parody account with a profile picture of Pandya in his test whites. The tweet in Hindi, which was later deleted, loosely translated as "Which Ambedkar??? The one who drafted a cross law and constitution or the one who spread the disease called reservation in the country"
