Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government on Thursday transferred three IAS officers in the state within a few days of them being given new posts in a major reshuffle in the state bureaucracy. Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers Mukesh Kumar, Dr. Vinod Rao and Mohammed Shahid were transferred in a surprise move by the government.

According to an order passed on late Thursday evening, the former Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar was transferred to the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) as its vice-chairman and chief executive officer. The 1996-batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer was made the secretary to education department (primary and secondary) in Gandhinagar about a week ago on July 12. Kumar had done a commendable job as the municipal commissioner of Ahmedabad city by working towards developing the city as a smart city and improving cleanliness in the city.

Mohammed Shahid, who was the vice chairman and CEO of the GMB, has been now transferred as the secretary to Gujarat Agriculture, Farmer Welfare and Corporation (Animal Husbandry Cow Breeding and Fisheries) department in Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar. Dr. Vinod Rao has been transferred to the post of secretary to education department (primary and secondary) in Gandhinagar, that was formerly held by Kumar until a week ago.
