Ahmedabad: A Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) team in Vadodara had on Friday caught three men with 14 kilograms of cannabis (charas) in their car. The drugs are pegged to be worth Rs1.5 crores.

The NCB had recieved a tip-off about people allegedly trying to smuggle drugs into the state and would pass by Karjan crossroads. The team set up a watch and began checking the vehicles passing through the stretch. They found three men Fakir Salim Shah, Hanif and Allah Rakha carrying 14 kilograms of cannabis in their Maruti Alto car. They were arrested and upon questioning, revealed that the consignment was handed over them by a person from Kashmir. Kashmir is notorious for getting drugs from countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan and having them smuggled to other states of India.

Of the arrested men, Fakir Salim has been previously arrested too for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) crimes. The value of the drugs found on these men is worth Rs1.5 crors in the international market. The police is investigating on who was the Kashmiri man that handed over the drugs to the troika and which routes they use to smuggle these drugs into the state.
