Ahmedabad: The Gujarat and Maharashtra Anti Terrorist Squad on Thursday nabbed a suspected terrorist from Gandhidham in Kutch district of Gujarat. Allahrakha, a taxi driver by profession was apprehended by the ATS team after his name had surfaced during the interrogation of another terror suspect Faisal Husain Mirza, who was caught from Juhu in Mumbai.
The Maharashtra ATS had got the information that several terrorist organizations have become active again recently, few believed to be also involved in 2001 Mumbai bomb blasts, which the Maharashtra ATS is investigating. The tip-off said that these organisations were planning something similar to Mumbai blasts in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Intelligence agencies zeroed on Faisal Husain Mirza in Mumbai as one of the suspects and his interrogation revealed the names one Farooque Devdiwala in Dubai and Allahrakha in Gandhidham.
The police have been in the lookout of Farooque since a long time as he had gone underground, but he was nabbed by the Dubai Police yesterday acting upon the information from Faisal and a previously issued red corner notice against Farooque. Meanwhile, a team from the Maharashtra ATS arrived in Gujarat and informed the Gujarat ATS about their tip-off on Allahrakha in Gandhidham and they nabbed him in a joint operation on Thursday.
The Mumbai Police is in the process of bringing Farooque back to India. The Gujarat and Maharshtra Police have said that by nabbing these two terror suspects, they’ve probably averted a major attack planned by these terrorists.
