Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will be organizing the Sabarmati Riverfront Summer Festival this year from May 1 till May 6. This six-day summer-carnival, being held for the first time will also commemorate the foundation day of Gujarat. It will be a delight for the citizens who love visiting the city’s riverfronts during the summer vacations.
The festival will see events like music and comedy shows, cultural events and night marathon too. The previous edition of night marathon organized last year had seen good participation from the citizens. Though the boat-race would be missing this year as the corporation has decided to drop the even keeping in mind the water shortage the state is currently facing.
Another attraction would be the Mango Festival on the sidelines of this carnival which will have the farmers setting up stalls to sell their produce directly to the consumers. The farmers won’t be charged any money for the stalls. A handloom and handicraft market too would be put in place where local artisans could sell their artworks and products to the visitors.
The bridges passing atop the riverfront would be adorned with LED lights too and there would be a light and sound show every evening which would be the icing on the cake.
