MeraNews Network, Rajkot: Gujaratis are known for their extravagant celebrations, be it social or religious functions. The extravagance of one such celebration was seen Pal village of Rajkot when folk artistes Mayabhai Ahir, Devraj Ahir were showered with currency notes during their performances on stage. In another event in Kadvasan village, folk singer Geetaben Rabari to saw admirers of her singing, shower her with money on stage.

It has been a long followed tradition in Saurashtra to have a ‘Lok Dayro’ or a public musical function to celebrate happy occasions like weddings or reading sessions of Bhagavad Gita called Bhagwad Saptah. The Vank family of Pal village had organised a Bhagwad Saptah event, which saw prominent folk artistes Mayabhai Ahir and Devraj Gadhvi regale the audience with their performances. Fans ranging from men and women of all ages were seen rushing to stage with bundles of currency notes and raining on the performers.

While in Kodinar’s Kadvasan village, a Patotsav of Vihot Mata Temple was celebrated, where Geetaben Rabari performed her popular song ‘Rona Sherma.., much to the delight of the audience at the Lok Dayra. Karni Sena vice president Rajsinh Shekhawat was also present at the event.

The sheer amount of notes rained on these performers saw the whole stage covered in a blanket of currency notes of different denominations.
