Meranews, Ahmedabad: Indian shuttler P.V. Sindhu defeated Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara to win the Korea Super Series badminton tournament on Sunday.

Sindhu, who became the first Indian woman to win an individual silver medal at the Olympics at Rio 2016, won 22-20, 11-21, 21-18 in an hour and 24 minutes in Seoul.

This was Sindhu’s third Super Series title following wins in China in 2016 and India earlier this year. With victory on Sunday, the Hyderabad shuttler avenged her loss to Okuhara in the BWF World Championships final in Glasgow in August.

Sindhu saved two game points before taking the first game, but was outplayed in the second as Okuhara rebounded strongly. The world No. 4 then fought back in the deciding game to take a big lead before fending off a late surge from her opponent to lift the trophy.
