Manila (Philippines): Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe on the sidelines of the 31st Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Summit in Manila on Tuesday.

Modi earlier met Vietnam Prime Minister Nguy?n Xuân Phúc and his Australian counterpart Malcolm Turnbull.

On the first day of the summit, the Indian Prime Minister discussed with US President Donald Trump the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and their shared commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

Modi said he looked forward to hosting the US delegation at the 8th Global Entrepreneurship Summit, which will be held in Hyderabad on 28-30 November and will showcase innovation and collaborations between the two nations. 

Modi is on a three-day visit to the Philippines capital that will also see him attend the 15th India-Asean Summit and the 12th East Asian Summit.

On Monday, the India Prime Minister visited the International Rice Research Institute in Los Banos and inaugurated the Resilient Rice Field Laboratory that has been named after him. Modi also met members of the Indian diaspora at a reception hosted by the Indian envoy to the South-East Asian nation. ANI
