Gandhinagar: After giving a clarion call to the Dalit community members to not allow the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders to garland Dr.BR Ambedkar’s statue of his birth anniversary, Dalit-rights activist and Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani shared another video message today asking the Dalits to protest peacefully against the BJP leaders on April 14th.
This message for maintaining peace comes after the country was marred with violent protests by the on April 2 when Dalits had called for a country-wide shutdown. A few days ago through a video message, Mevani asked members of the Dalit-community to protest against the BJP leaders who would come to garland the statues of Babasaheb Ambedkar in their locality.
In the new video, Mevani urges the community members to look out for anti-social elements that might want to take advantage of their protest and try to defame him and the cause they are fighting for, and thus they should only resort to peaceful protests against the BJP leaders who come to garland the Ambedkar statue. He asked the member not to get into any ruckus or altercation with anyone.
Mevani will be holding a roadblock or chakka-jam protest at Samakhiali with the members of Dalit, Thakor and Muslim community on April 14, to protest against the government administration for failing to hand over possession of land allotted to the minority community at Rapar block in Kutch about 20 years ago.
