MeraNews Network, Wardha: Six people were killed and ten others injured in an explosion near the Central Ammunition Depot in Pulgaon, Wardha in Maharashtra on early Tuesday morning. Wardha’s additional superintendent of police Nikhil Pingle told reporters that the blast occurred in an open field where the ammunition was being unloaded for controlled disposal. About 10 to 15 labourers were at the site when one of the ammunition boxes exploded during the unloading.

Inspector General of Police (Nagpur Range), KMM Prasanna informed that four people killed on the spot, while two others had succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. The deceased included an ammunition factory employee and labourers. The injured were admitted to a hospital in the nearby Savangi village.

The demolition ground at the Central Ammunition Depot at Pulgaon in the district was given to the Ammunition Factory of Khamaria in Madhya Pradesh, for demolition activities and the ammunition that was unloaded on Tuesday morning had come from there.

A similar incident had occurred two years ago at the ammunition depot in Pulgaon where 16 people were killed in a blast in 2016.
