Ahmedabad: Reacting strongly to the incident of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Tripura allegedly razing a statue of Russian communist revolutionary Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov AKA Lenin in Belonia town on Monday, MLA from Gujarat's Vadgam and Dalit's rights activist Jignesh Mevani on Wednesday tweeted out that Dalits will always cherish the legacy of Ambedkar, Lenin, Periyar, Phule and some day they will definitely destroy the Manu-murti at Rajasthan high court. He asked Modi to tell his workers to rather pull down statues of Manu instead of revolutionaries.
Modi ji tell your boys to destroy the statue of manu, not lenin or Periyar. Mind well, exploited dalits will always cherish the legacy of aambedkar, lenin, periyar, Phule and some day they will definitely destroy the manu-murti at Rajasthan high court.— Jignesh Mevani (@jigneshmevani80) March 7, 2018
Tripura is witnessing violence in the state since two after the BJP-Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) alliance brought down the 25-year rule of the Left in the north eastern state. What triggered the violence is the pulling down of a statue of Russian communist revolutionary Lenin by Tripura BJP workers amidst chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and several BJP leaders shared their delight over the incident by tweeting out picture of the incident, which didn't go down well with the CPM workers and clashes erupted in different parts of the state.
Jignesh Mevani has always shown his support to ideology of communism and it is not a surprise when he posted this tweet showing his displeasure over BJP's act of vandalism as a part of their celebrations on their victory in CPM dominated Tripura. The fall of Communist government in Tripura now leaves only Kerala as the lone state with a communist government in the state.
