Rajkot: After senior leader Kunvarji Bavaliya switched loyalties to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), several Congress leaders and corporators have been making attempts at convincing Indranil Rajguru to reconsider his resignation action from the Congress fearing that he too might join the BJP.

A group of 15 corporators from Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has appealed to the state unit of the party that it should convince and bring back the influential political leader back to their fold. They urged the party that Rajguru’s presence in the party will make their standing in Rajkot and Saurashtra stronger. Rajguru, the richest candidate in fray during the assembly elections last year, had quit the party on June 25. This move saw several of his supporters create a ruckus in the Congress headquarters in Ahmedabad.

Opposition leader in the RMC Vashram Sagathiya informed that they met Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda at the Ahmedabad party office and provided reasons to him on why the party must take Rajguru back. They told him that Rajguru was never lured by the prospects of high posts offered by the BJP and never spoke any ill about the Congress. Chavda assured the leaders that Rajguru’s resignation never accepted by the party in the first place and the doors of Congress are open for him all the time, whenever he wishes to return.

Now it is to be seen if Indranil Rajguru follows the feelers given out him by the Congress and makes a comeback to the fold.
