Meranews, Gandhinagar: On the final day of his three-day 'Navsarajan Yatra,' in Gujarat the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Vice President Rahul, Rahul Gandhi said that if Congress is voted to power in the state, they will waive off the debts of the farmers.

Resorting to the social viral meme about ‘Vikas Gando Thayo Che’ he said that ‘development’ has really gone crazy because of big empty promises given by the saffron party.

Gandhi’s visit, which is focused on the upcoming state assembly elections proposed by end of this year, ended at Rajkot.

During one of his pubic gathering Gandhi said, “The Congress government waived off loans in Karnataka and Punjab. This trend will continue in Gujarat, if Congress is voted to power within 10 days of coming in power."

Jibing at the much touted ‘Gujarat Model’ by Narendra Modi, Gandhi reacted, “This model is a failed model”. He added, “There is need to reintroduce the old Amul model, which takes everybody along. Congress will form government here, we shall take everybody on board and Gujarat will show the way to the entire country one more time.”

Addressing a gathering at the base of Chotila hillock, Gandhi asked people, “What has happened to ‘development’ in Gujarat? This is the first time that development has gone mad.”

For the first time in his visit he jibed at the meme that has gone viral recently about ‘Vikas gone crazy’. Following the Narendra Modi style of question and answer style of interacting with public, he asked ‘What has happened to Vikas? People answered, “Gaando Thayo Che’.

The Congress vice-president also fired fresh salvos at the BJP-led governments, both in Gujarat and at the Centre, on the final day of his Gujarat visit.

Recently, BJP’s Yashwant Sinha had criticized the Modi government’s decision regarding demonetization and hasty implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). Referring to Sinha’s quote, Rahul said, “Even Sinha said that people in the party know this but they are afraid to express themselves.”
