Gandhinagar: In Gujarat, as per the information received from the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rains from July 23 to 26, 2018 in Central Gujarat and North Gujarat.

Saurashtra and South Gujarat will experience light rainfall in the coming days. However, the rescue work is going on particularly in the South Gujarat and Saurashtra regions. The rainfall has reduced today. Water has started receding at present. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani yesterday, reviewed the situation with officials. The rainfall has solved the drinking water issue of most of the parts of the state.

As per information was given by CM in a press conference held on yesterday at Gandhinagar, 14 persons are dead due to drowning. Others 18 deaths are due to lightning, wall collapse, electric shock etc. reasons. Instructions are given for cleaning work in rain-affected areas. The state government has decided to release water from Kadana reservoir to fill Sujalam Suflam ponds. Narmada main canal and sub-canals will supply water up to Morbi of Saurashtra region/ and Kutch for irrigation purpose.

Electrical connections have been restored in 3515 affected villages and the Chief Minister instructed to ensure the provision of clean and safe drinking water in areas affected by rain.
