Ahmedabad: Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya, who has been at the eye of the storm since a couple of days after a Jodhpur court on Tuesday asked the Jodhpur Police to register an FIR (First Information Report) against him for making a derogatory tweet against Dr. BR Ambedkar, issued a statement on Thursday evening clarifying that he was not the one made the controversial post on the microblogging site.

“I have the utmost respect for Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Indian Constitution and the many communities that call India their home and I would not indulge in making any kind of statement which is derogatory and/or which insults the sentiments of any community.” read the statement that Pandya had posted on his verified social media accounts of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Major media houses carried misleading stories Pandya facing legal music after a petitioner DR Meghwal, who claims to be a member of the Rashtriya Bhim Sena filed a petition in a Jodhpur court on Tuesday demanding punishment for Pandya. The tweet in question was actually made by a parody account that went by the username @sirhardik3777.
