Ahmedabad: Gujarat Police headquarters, in a letter to all the departments of the police administration have ordered the cancellation of all the leave applications of the policemen, a decision taken in the wake of a protest call by Dalit rights activist and Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani on April 14.

The cops have been ordered to be present at their respective police stations and at the police headquarters during the time of protests. Dalits-rights activist and Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani have threatened to hold a roadblock protest on April 14 along with OBC leader and Radhanpur MLA Alpesh Thakor on Samakhiali highway in Kutch if the administration failed to hand over possession of land allotted to Dalit and Koli community members in Rapar block.

In order to maintain the law and order situation in the state during the protests, the DGP office has taken this decision where all the applications for leaves by the cops stands canceled.
