MeraNews Network, Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami has been extended a formal invitation by the Gujarat government to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Statue of Unity, which is the world’s tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Vadodara, Gujarat on October 31.

A team of officials, MLAs led by Gujarat tribal development, tourism, and forest minister Ganpat Vasava and Loksabha MP Kirit Solanki met the Tamil Nadu chief minister at the secretariat in Chennai and presented the invitation to him.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Statue of Unity, which is touted to be the tallest structure in the world, on October 31, which is Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary.

The statue that is being built at the cost of Rs 2, 389 crores, in the honor of the country’s first home minister will stand 182 meters tall on Sadhu Bet near the Sardar Sarovar Dam. It is designed by Ram Sutar and the architect of the project is Joseph Mena.

Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani had on Monday met the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow and invited him for the inauguration too.
