Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad city municipal commissioner Mukesh Kumar has asked the Anti-Corruption Bureau to file charges of bribery against city-based LG hospital superintendant RC Shah after a contractor had accused Shah of taking a bribe from him to have his payments passed. The contractor, who had worked with the hospital over some sign boards, had recorded Shah taking bribes from him through a hidden camera and sent the video to the municipal commissioner.
The video footage was taken in 2017 when Kumkum Graphics had worked with the LG Hospital on a contracted-project. The firm was to be paid Rs.1.17 lakhs for the work done and the contractor got in touch with superintendant RC Shah, who demanded a bribe for the payment to get approved. The bribe was paid in two installments, first Rs15, 000 and the second being Rs25, 000. It was after this, the payment to the firm was released by the hospital. What Shah was unaware of is that the contractor was recording all their conversations and dealings with a hidden camera.
Aa CD of the recorded video was then sent to Ahmedabad city Municipal Commissioner. Shocked to see the superintendent of Ahmedabad’s second-best government-run hospital taking bribes, he forwarded this video proof to the ACB, which led to an investigation by DySP Parul Solanki and now charges of bribery have been filed against Shah.
