New Delhi: A day after Congress had to face embarrassment over a viral picture showing its leaders feating on Chhole Bhature before sitting on day-long fast at Rajghat in Delhi, its different statements by different leaders have done nothing to save the grand old party's face. One of the leaders was quoted saying that even women have food in the morning before fasting the whole day for the Hindu festival of Karva Chauth.

The photo in question was tweeted by BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) Delhi spokesperson Harish Khurana which showed Delhi Congress leaders Amarinder Singh Lovely, Haroon Yusuf and Ajay Maken sitting in restaurant with a couple of others and having Chhole Bhature in the morning before the fast on Monday announced by Congress president Rahul Gandhi to protest against the atrocities on Dalit community across the country.

What caused more embarrassment to the party after being caught off-guard this manner was the explanation given by Amarinder Singh Lovely, who said that the fast was to begin from 10:30 AM at Rajghat, and because they were busy whole night in making arrangements at the venue, they decided to go and have breakfast at 8 AM in the morning before heading to join the party in the fast and there is nothing wrong in it. When questioned by the media on why this double face, Ajay Maken reportedly said that this was a symbolic fast and it is not important who ate what and where.
