Gandhinagar: Sons of Anand Congress MLAs and six others have been booked by Anand police for firing in the air during a public function organized by the Kshatriya community. Mahendra Sodha and Ranjit Sodha are sons of Congress MLA from Anand Constituency and Anand District Congress unit’s president, Kanti Sodha.

Apart from them, the police also booked Sunilsinh Parmar (president of Anand district Kshatriya Sena), Sandipsinh Dabhi (vice president of Anand district Kshatriya Sena), Ravirajsinh Vaghela (secretary of Anand district Kshatriya Sena)and 2 unknown persons. They are booked under Section 25 (1) (1) (a) of Arms Act and Section 144 of Indian Penal Code for intentionally creating an atmosphere of fear in public.

The complaint was filed after a video of the men firing continuous shots from rifles at a local Dayaro function of the Kshatriya community went viral. A head constable from the Anand Police Station has filed this complaint. The incident occurred on May 11 at around midnight in a dayaro function upon the arrival of the performer Rajbha Gadhvi at the event.

District police superintendent Makarand Chauhan told MeraNews, “The cops present at the venue did try to stop the men from firing in the air, but they claimed to have licensed weapons and didn’t pay heed to the policemen. Upon the video of the incident going viral, we decided to book the men involved in the firing and lodge a complaint against them.
