MeraNews Network, New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Devendra Kumar in connection with the bribery charges filed against its special director Rakesh Asthana and three others.

Asthana is accused of taking a bribe of Rs 3 crores from a Hyderabad-based businessman to provide him clean-chit in a case involving meat trader Moin Qureshi. He has called the allegations of corruption against him baseless. Asthana has claimed that the CBI chief Alok Verma is trying to wrongfully frame him in a case of corruption.

Businessman Satish Sana claimed that he had paid Rs 3 crores to Asthana over a period of one year to ensure that his name is cleared in the investigation. His statement was recorded in front of a magistrate under Section 164 of CrPC.
