Prashant Dayal, Ahmedabad: While it is almost fixed that the deputy chief minister of Gujarat, Nitin Patel will be forced out of his position soon, the veteran leader recently tweeted out to rubbish this news as rumors. Even though the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has neither confirmed nor denied these claims, Patel has been conspicuous with his absence in several public events of the government and the party, including BJP’s Mehsana event organized by the party’s state chief Jitu Vaghani.

Unhappy with the treatment meted out to him by his party, especially with news about him getting dropped from the cabinet doing rounds, Patel has decided to quit the side and form one of his own. But he requires minimum 33 MLAs on his side to break off and form a faction successfully. He wishes to bring together people unhappy with the party and side with him to quit. He wishes to break off the party before the party shows him the door.

According to the sources, National party president Amit Shah will be visiting Gandhinagar on Friday, and he will be probably making an announcement of Nitin Patel putting down his papers. It is being said that the state home minister Pradipsinh Jadeja is playing a vital role in convincing the veteran leader Patel to step down graciously. The party wishes that Patel announce his resignation in the presence of party president Amit Shah, but our sources claim that Patel is anything but ready for it.

With Nitin Patel being forced to ‘resign’ there are full chances of him breaking off from the party and later attending the ‘Mahapanchayat’ organized by the Patidar community on May 26, but there has been no confirmation about the same.
