Somnath: Seems like the rules and regulations set up for the safety of the citizens are not applicable for the karyakartas (volunteers) of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the state. Time and again these volunteers have been seen brazenly flouting safety and security rules at public gatherings. On Friday, several BJP karyakartas were seen carrying mobile phones inside the temple premises of Somnath temple where the party’s national president Amit Shah had come to pray.
Given that the temple has been provided with Z+ security, nobody is allowed to enter inside the temple with electronic devices, but the volunteers were spotted gleefully clicking pictures and selfies with the BJP leaders who had come to visit the Hindu temple. In a previous instance of not following the rules, the karuakartas who has participated in a motorcycle rally in Surat rode their bikes all along without wearing helmets, despite the traffic police specifically stating that every participant was supposed to ride their motorcycles wearing one.
Amit Shah had visited Somnath temple on Friday, which was the 68th foundation day of the temple, along with his son Jay and his wife. He was also flanked by Gujarat BJP chief Jitu Vaghani, Bhikhu Dalsaniya, MP Rajesh Chudasama, etc. The temple premises were teeming with top security officials but they couldn’t stop the over-excited bunch of karyakartas breaking rules at will.
