Gandhinagar: The CID (Crime) had on Tuesday afternoon made the two Amreli Police constables and lawyer Ketan Patel, whom they had arrested last Sunday, appear before the Gandhinagar district Mamlatdar’s office, where the complainant Shailesh Bhatt identified them as the cops who were a part if the team that kidnapped and detained him.
Surat-based real estate developer Shailesh Bhatt had on February 23, met Gujarat state home minister Pradipsinh Jadeja and informed him about the ordeal he had to go through from the hands of Amreli Police. Bhatt was kidnapped and detained illegally at Keshav Farm near Chiloda highway by Amreli Police inspector Anant Patel and his team of nine constables, who in connivance with Bhatt’s business partner Kirit Paladiya, forced Bhatt to transfer his Bitcoins worth Rs12 crores from him to Patel. PI Anant Patel had also demanded Rs32 crores as extortion over and above the bitcoins from Bhatt in order to let him go without any legal action against him for his shady deals and illegal cryptocurrency tradings.
The CID (Crime) has so far arrested 3 people in connection with the case and still, 8 others are yet to be caught. Bhatt had also identified Ketan Patel as the person who was supposed to receive Rs37 crores of extortion money from him via hawala and angadiya firms in Surat.
