Ahmedabad: In the ongoing investigation of the illegal detention and Bitcoin extortion from a Surat based builder Shailesh Bhatt, the Gujarat Police's CID Crime has now summoned Sanjay Kotadiya from Mumbai to appear before the CID and record his statement in regards to this case. The investigation agency found the Bitcoin trail take them to Mumbai, and Sandip, who is believed to be a trader in the cryptocurrency, has been believed to be involved in encashing the Bitcoins that were extorted from Shailesh Bhatt.
Sanjay Kotadiya is the nephew of former MLA Nalin Kotadiya, whose name had initially cropped up in the case but he had rubbished those reports back then. Now that his nephew has come under the scanner of CID, Nalin Kotadiya's links, in this case, seems to be becoming evident. The bitcoins that were extorted from Bhatt by Amreli Police officials after kidnapping him and detaining him illegally at a farm in Chiloda, were encashed in Mumbai and initial reports had suggested that a former minister's nephew had facilitated the selling of those bitcoins and the money they received from selling these bitcoins were then distributed amongst the accused cops.
Meanwhile, the deputy secretary Jayant Joshi from the chief secretary office has informed the home secretary of a letter they've received from the Prime Minister's Office that acknowledged the complaint from Shailesh Bhatt and it has asked them to inform the PMO of the developments in the case regularly.
