MeraNews Network, Bengaluru: A hydrogen cylinder blast inside a lab at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru killed an aerospace engineer and injured three others on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased, identified as Manoj K was a native of Hyderabad, Telangana. The injured have been identified as Kartik, Adulya and Naresh Kumar.
The News Minute quoted MR Chandrasekhar, the Chief Security Officer at IISc Bengaluru saying that an explosion took place at around 2:20 PM in one of the aerospace laboratories, which resulted in the death of one of the engineers working with a startup Super-Wave. The startup is an IISc initiative promoted and directed two Department of Aerospace Engineering professors of the institute.
The 32-year-old engineer was working with the startup that was exploring new techniques to extract gas using shock-wave technology. It had also signed an agreement with Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) in 2015.
