Gandhinagar: Radhanpur MLA Alpesh Thakor, Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani, and PAAS convener Hardik Patel along with their aides had on Thursday afternoon conducted a ‘janata raid’ on an alleged liquor den opposite the Gandhinagar DSP office in Gandhinagar Sector 27.

The troika made claims that country liquor was being brewed and sold from the house and even ‘seized’ two pouches of country-made liquor from the house. Local Crime Branch Police Inspector Jugal Purohit with his team had rushed to the spot upon being informed of the raid. Four men from Sola in Ahmedabad were rushed to Sola Civil Hospital after their health deteriorated and began facing breathing problems after allegedly consuming spurious liquor on Wednesday evening.

The lady, on who house the ‘raid’ was conducted, rubbished the claims of the troika that liquor was being brewed at her house. She said that one of the men who had accompanied the three had brought the liquor with him and tried entering her house to plant it.

Gandhinagar SP Virendrasinh Yadav later called a press conference where he addressed the media and said that the claims of the troika that the raided-house was a liquor brewing den could not be proven as no apparatus or vessels as such could be found from the place. He even termed the act as a political stunt by the three leaders. The police are interrogating the person, Pravin Bharwad who had allegedly carried the liquor pouches to the house during the raid.
