MeraNews Network, Rajkot: The Gujarat Anti Corruption Bureau on Tuesday caught a Congress leader from Jetpur Taluka red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakhs for LED lighting contract worth Rs 15 lakhs.

Kishore Padariya was to facilitate a contract worth Rs 15 lakhs for LED street lights in his area without an official tender, for which he was supposed to receive a bribe of Rs 2 lakhs, an information that was tipped off to the ACB sleuths.

Police Inspector KH Gohil had received a tip that Padariya, a Congress candidate for the Pedhla District Panchayat, would be accepting the bribe money and in return would let a contract worth Rs 15 lakhs from his grant for LED lighting in his constituency.

A team led by AP Jadeja set up a trap and nabbed Padariya while accepting the bribe money at Ankur Hotel on Rajkot national highway.
