MeraNews Network, Gandhinagar: The local crime branch (LCB) unit of Gandhinagar Police on Tuesday night arrested six persons for consuming liquor illegally at a party organized at a farmhouse in Adalaj. The arrested persons included Vismay Shah, accused in the infamous 2013 BMW hit and run case where he killed two bike-borne youth in Ahmedabad, and his newly married wife Pooja.

According to reports, the Gandhinagar LCB conducted a raid at Balaji Kutir, a farmhouse located in Adalaj near Gandhinagar upon receiving a tip-off about a liquor party being held at the place. The cops arrested Vismay Shah, his wife Pooja Shah, VS Hospital doctor Nima Shah, Manthan Ganatra who is the son of a prominent builder, and Vismay’s friends Chinmay Patel, Himanshu Buch, and Harshad Majumdar.

The party was organized to celebrate the wedding of Vismay to Pooja, who got married on December 13 this year while he was out on bail. One Russian national too was arrested along with the others but was let go after questioning, as she had a legal liquor permit. The other arrested persons were taken to a government hospital in Adalaj for medical check-up and will be produced in court on Wednesday.

The cops seized a luxury sedan, multiple tins of beer and hookahs too. Vismay had in 2013 killed two bike-borne youth near Bodakdev while returning from a party at SG Highway and driving under influence of alcohol. He had recently applied for permission from the Gujarat High Court to travel abroad for his honeymoon, but it was rejected.
